Let's Do It Again...

Let’s Do It Again…

A few days ago I saw Expendables 2.  I have been waiting for this opening since they announced it shortly after the first Expendables came out.  Let's get some things straight to start off. I know they're all like 60 and in Chuck Norris' case...72, but I don't care.  I love it, bring on a 3rd.  I know you think it's unrealistic for these "Geezers" to dominate as much as they do...Ok, well, you fight Stallone aka Rocky Balboa and see who wins. My money is on him still being able to whoop 97% of your asses.  And my personal favorite comment,...

Out of LA and in need of something to do, the old man and I headed to the Pix Theater in the wonderfully small town of Albany, Oregon. (They serve beer there!)  This 200 seat theater is a throw back to the one screen, one movie, theater.  Best parts, 5 dollar entrance, $8.50 for decent sized popcorn and two drinks and all the Albanian chatter you can handle.  In fact we had a guy sit in front of us (I think he resembled Mike O'Malley) was pretty damn awesome.  For instance, as soon as he walked in he walked up...

Yes, I went to Brave and YES, I realize I'm a grown man going to a little kids movie.  I know all of this, but look; I find it really hard to pass up on Pixar movies (well, except Cars 2, that was a travesty). Pixar has been a piece of my childhood since I was 10 and they are legendary...just awesome!  When Toy Story came out, I, along with most of America, became a fan and have been one ever since.  Every time Pixar comes out with a movie, especially something new, I can't wait to see what it's going to...

Ok, I finally did it.  I was all talk for a while, but I finally stepped up and went to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.  Look, I knew what I was getting myself into. I knew what kind of ratings it got. Yes, it flopped in the theaters, but just hear me out. I went to see this movie for a couple reasons: 1) Sorry, Abraham Lincoln killing evil doesn't strike you as awesome? 2) RottonTomatoes isn't always accurate with their evaluations and this movie is a perfect example. 35%!? That means that all 3 of the Jackass movies had better ratings, and not only...

Well, I succumbed to the hype that is the Avengers.  Went on a weeknight since they were still making 50 or so million the previous weekend and I didn’t want to be crowded…(Don’t crowd me! @ :28 mark)  That and to be honest with you, I wanted to see it, but I wasn’t in a mad dash either. Took our talents to the AMC Century City 15 this week.  The AMC 15 is a household favorite when it comes to movie watching because the theater is apart of the Westfield mall, and the Westfield mall offers a decent selection at the...

I’m not sure what just happened.  I mean, I went to the theaters knowing I was about to witness some kind of weird science experiment unfold, but I had no idea of the caliber of Cabin in the Woods.  It was a trip. We ran up to the Valley for this one, and ate at Weiler’s Deli before the show (which was lovely…I had the Monte Cristo sandwich, they nailed it).  Unfortunately, this meant a full stomach, so I had to forgo the popcorn (breaking one of my movie going commandments, but rules were meant to be broken, right?). The best...

Oh, I Forgot You’ve Been There and Back

Ah, 1999.  It feels like forever ago.  During the summer of ‘99 I was just finishing up my time at North Albany Middle School, I was 13 years old had my whole life in front of me.  Jesus, what the hell happened… Believe it or not, American Wedding came out in 2003.  I know, right?  We last left off with Jim and Michelle getting married. The movie was average at best. Sure it had some laughs here and there, and of course Stifler stole the show, but I think everyone was kind of disappointed in how the American Pie people signed...

I saw this movie trailer a while back.  It looked interesting, had Sean William Scott in it, along with Jay Baruchel (a personal favorite of mine since Knocked up) so I kept it on my radar.  As the movie came closer and closer to its release, I realized that this wasn’t going to get much of a release at all (31 total theaters opening weekend), which sort of bummed me out. But Rotten Tomatoes had decent reviews and I’m all for a hockey player movie, especially one based on a true story, so I searched out a theater. The release date...

Is That A Skinny Jonah Hill?

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t a big 21 Jump Street fan growing up.  I remember seeing a few episodes here and there, but couldn’t really tell you what went on in them other than, ya, younger looking cops acting like high schoolers (J. Depp) to crack the case.  Might have been a little early for my time?  (I like saying that) So, what do we have here?  A movie based on something I didn’t really have a high interest in, with a couple of decent actors (Jonah Hill being my main draw).  I like me some Jonah, even with the weight...

I braved the 70 degree weather here in Los Angeles and went to see Chronicle last weekend.  I hate crowds, so I was a little hesitant to go on opening weekend, but when I looked over the movie times I noticed an 11AM showing.  Who’s going to go to that early of a show, right?  ME! In retrospect, I think I must have missed a few things in the previews about this movie.  It was nothing like I thought it was going to be.  It started with a kid going through some tough times; Mom’s sick, Dad’s a drunk…not a lot...
