Box Office Top 10: Transformers Take Over
Those Piccolo Pete bombs your middle school neighbors were setting off all weekend weren’t the only thing blowing up. Transformers opened to an amazing $116.4M for the 4-day holiday weekend ($97.5M for the 3-day). Surprisingly, those numbers are actually a little bit BELOW Transformers 2, but since everyone seemed to agree that movie sucked, 3 should pull ahead in the long run.
Larry Crowne struggled out of the gate, earning just $15.7M for the 4-day holiday weekend ($13M for the 3-day). This movie seemed like it was targeted at a slightly older crowd, most of who probably saw the trailer and thought “I’ll catch it on Netflix”.
A movie called Monte Carlo also came out. So there’s that.
Here’s the rest of the Top 10:
|8||Mr. Popper's Penguins||$10.1M|
|10||Midnight in Paris||$3.5M|
